Why sound healing?

Maybe you didn't know it, but everything starts as waves of sound! There's a reason we study the body, whether in the event of injury or in the event of the body carrying a new life, via sonogram. The sound waves capture resonances that we otherwise couldn't perceive.


What's more, in keeping with the principle of quantum physics that energy is neither created or destroyed, those sound waves never really disappear. They simply become too small for us to hear.


As creatures made of sound waves, we're deeply affected by the sound around us. One of the challenges of living in an age of near constant stimulus and information is how much we're plugged in - literally and figuratively! It can take a lot of effort to unplug from the constant sound and stimulus, and our brains have gotten so accustomed to taking in vast volumes of information that stopping the impulse for constant variety can seem counterintuitive.


Fortunately, more and more people are rediscovering a centuries-old practice to relax and reconnect with peace and quiet in sound healing. It's estimated that the art of using sound, whether it's drumming, bells, chimes, rattles, or the human voice, to produce meditative states goes back at least five thousand years. It's a practice whose time has come - again!
