You know how good it is to have a song you love that you play over and over?
Some people call them “ear worms” which always reminds me of Star Trek 2 when Khan put an armadillo in Chekov’s ear.
Did you know that dopamine is released in your brain every time you listen to one of those songs you’ve got on rewind? It doesn’t matter if it’s a happy or sad song either.
I would add that there are some songs that I’m always happy to hear, even after years. These songs for me are the Greatest Of All Time: GOATs.
I was curious to find out how they would make me feel if I put all of my GOATs in one playlist, so yesterday I started doing that:
When I listen to this work in progress playlist, I become incredibly happy.
I put it on this morning when I went out for a walk and “Outstanding” came on. This song is just so versatile! Dancing, hanging out, driving, cooking, romance, it always hits the spot for me.
